Gosh where to start… First I should say I love this couple. I knew from the moment we started talking about their wedding it was going to be how I would do it myself, you know… someday when all the stars line up. When Jenna told me she was a Salisbury University graduate (my alma mater) with a degree in marketing and graphic design I knew the attention to wedding details were going to be top notch. The couple who live in the Raleigh, North Carolina area planned a destination wedding at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, North Carolina. Jenna told me she was a little nervous because when she booked Jennette’s Pier not only was it sight unseen, it wasn’t even built yet. Jennette’s Pier under went a major $25 million renovation in 2011 making it a state of the art “green” fishing pier with a huge private wedding reception area featuring huge wooden cathedral ceilings and panoramic Atlantic ocean view. Jenna, Evan and I got to tour the facility when we met in the Outer Banks OBX to shoot their engagement photos earlier in the summer. They even got one of the pier planks with their names and wedding date engraved on it. Do you remember Crystal and Chris? Crystal was the wedding planner for Jenna and Evan’s big day. Fast forward to the wedding day, September 18, 2011 to be exact. Jenna and the girls started out their day at the Spa Vogue in Kitty Hawk getting dolled up while the guys got ready in one of the two beach houses the family rented for the week. Evan ordered the coolest custom belt buckles from the internet for each of the groomsmen, his three brothers and his dad. I should probably mention Evan is a biochemist, his belt buckle probably makes more sense now. The big question of the day was wether or not the ceremony was going to be held on the beach or not, the wind and sand was blowing so hard that it would have been miserable to be outside for very long. So inside we went for a gorgeous ceremony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The wind held out just long enough for us to grab some fun portraits with the bridal party on the beach. Wrapping up our outdoor excursion it was back inside for the traditional wedding formalities. The highlight of the evening certainly had to be the flash mob style dance by the entire bridal party to “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO. There were so many other fun things I could say about this day, I had a great time, I think the photos show everyone else did as well. I’d be negligent if I didn’t recognize my amazing assistant and OBX based wedding photographer Kirsten Lewis who contributed to so many breathtaking moments captured this day. Evan and Jenna congratulations and I can’t wait to visit with you both in North Carolina soon!
