For my 34th birthday, my girlfriend Angela decided she would give me an “experience” rather than a gift. I wasn’t exactly sure what that meant, but when I met at her apartment in Syracuse, NY (she goes to physician assistant school at Le Moyne College there), she had the car packed and was ready for a surprise adventure. She promised that even though I had just driven 7 hours from Maryland that a few more hours of driving would be worth it. The only thing she told me to bring was my passport so when we crossed into Canada, I was excited to see where we would end up. We got into Niagara Falls at about 10 pm, just in time to watch a fireworks show over the falls from our 20th story hotel room with floor to ceiling windows. We shared a bottle of wine and had a delicious dinner at a steakhouse overlooking the falls. On saturday, we took a Maid of the Mist boat tour directly into the falls (so awesome). Then we went on a guided segway tour along the Welland Canal in a town called St. Catharines (really fun– if you havent done it, you really should give it a try!). We wrapped the day up with a vineyard tour and wine tasting at Peller Estates Winery. This was hands down one of the best birthdays yet…
