I’ve never entered a photography contest before so when the Shoot & Share 2013 submissions went online I decided to give it a shot. I submitted 20 photos from my 2013 weddings. There were a number of categories from Just the Bride, Just the Groom, The Wedding Party, Wedding Details, etc… Each week you could vote and pick your favorite images from one of the categories. The photos were displayed randomly in groups of 4 photos and you had to pick your favorite of the 4 before moving onto the next. I can’t tell you how exciting it was each week seeing my photos still being displayed. This was out of a whopping 26,433 photos submitted and 1660 photographers from all over the world. In the end, only the top 10 for each category counted. To see a handful of my photos just making the top 100 in itself was an amazing feat. Much to my surprise and amazement I got an email a few weeks before the contest stating the winners were to be announced and letting me know I placed in the top 10 for the Trash the Dress. I was mind blown as you can imagine. My photo – out of 26,433 submitted was simply amazing, not to mention this was my first photo contest! I am so excited to have placed 9th in the Top 10 for Trash the Dress.
