I knew from the moment I met Laura and Chuck they were my kind of people. Laura and Chuck planned a small wedding affair at her family farm in Preston, Maryland. After all the snow we had this winter which literally crippled the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Laura was afraid she wouldn’t be done work as a school teacher in time to celebrate her big day. Fortunately school let out in time and this couple celebrated their wedding with friends and family without a hitch. Early into her planning Laura shared with me that her grandfather had become ill and how much the family was looking forward to him sharing their wedding with him. You can imagine how pleased I was when I showed up to hear he was going to be able to watch the whole thing from the peace of their screened in porch. It takes quite a bit to rattle me on a wedding day, or any day for that matter. I walked away from Laura and Chuck’s wedding knowing I documented one of the most precious moments they will ever be able to enjoy for many years to come. It’s those little things, those things that bring a tear to my eye, that give me the fire and ambition get out and do this job and to honor this great responsibility of a wedding photojournalist to the best of my ability each and every weekend. Wishing you all my best!
