You probably remember that saying from grade school. Well that’s just the tip of what the Ocean City Fire Department taught students at the Ocean City Elementary School last week. The second week of October is recognized nationally as Fire Prevention Week. As a firefighter myself, I set out this past week to help my colleagues in the fire service educate students about the importance of fire safety. Having seen the devastation fire can quickly bring first hand, I encourage all of you to have an escape plan, check your smoke alarms, invest in a portable fire extinguisher and most importantly be prepared in the event the unfortunate strikes.
