HURRICANE SANDY
My job as a Deputy Fire Marshal in Worcester County, Maryland is never a dull one. During storms such as Hurricane Sandy I am required to be available for emergency response should my services as a fire investigator, hazardous materials technician, fire code official and anything else they tell me to do are needed. Today I was asked to report storm damage back to officials in the Emergency Operations Center. My reports gave emergency management and first responders in planning and logistics an idea what was really happening outside. Here are a few of my photos from Ocean City and West Ocean City.

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing the OC photos. My husband and I are were there up until Sunday for his SDHS class reunion. We were staying right off of Golf Course Rd on the bay in West Ocean City. We woke up Sunday, saw that the water was almost up to our car as well as to the bottom door of the house, and decided to head west back home to Pittsburgh. It’s sad to see the destruction that Ocean City has experienced. That is one tough town with amazing people, though.

Thank you so muck for sharing. I came to Ocean City the year 2009 for summer from Turkey. And now, I’m looking your photos. I’m so sad for this beatiful city. I hope, everything is ok.
Rob: Thank you so much for sharing these photos with all of us. My family, & I feel so sadden for all the people of Ocean City for all the damage, & destruction left by Hurrican Sandy! We are sadden for all other places, businesses, deaths, etc., as well. Our prayers are sent up daily for more protection, & to help everyone to clean up, re-build, re-store, or whatever it is that is needed. Prayers will be said for you, too, Rob, as you do your various jobs for the County!!

Thanks for the update on the damage! Been going to OC since I was 19 (now 80). OC is very tough and will recover! See you all there next summer!
I was down tue. Checking two family properties in north oc. We are lucky,no damage or flooding . Feel blessed!
Rob, I just wanted to thank you for posting your wonderful pictures of Ocean City post Sandy. My family vacations there every year and we were all wondering how things were ‘down the ocean’ after the storm. It was great to see some familiar places were able to ride it out.

Awesome pics! We live on 28th & had a minimal view of what was happening during the storm so this was very eye opening to what was going on those couple of days… Thanking God everyone is safe & a thank you to all the crews who have been working so hard to clean up our town!
I was in Ocean City Oct 7-12, 2012 & stayed at the Holiday Inn Suites Resort on 17th St. We had a school reunion for 168 at the end of the inlet at the Harrison Harbor Watch Restaurant. Needless to say I was shocked to see these were focal points where the hurricane hit. The devastation is unbelievable. As we peered out the window of the hotel’s Penthouse we wondered what would happen to the new homes built almost at sea level on Bay side….do you know? Thanks for the pictures.
Rob…I 1st received your photos from my friend in BelAir a few days ago, now that I have also received your photos from another friend, I’d like to commend you for your human interest in what the town went through in downtown OC. We live @ 3rd St & Bay, so some of these photos are of our area, but it’s good to see all.
Don’t know if you remember, but we 1st met when you and Cory Holland filmed & ‘sang’ “cornfields” on Decatur’s cable channel. Good times. Congrats on your successes.
Thank you for posting your photographs. These are the best photos I have seen of damage caused by Hurricane Sandy in OC. My prayers go out to all those affected by the storm.
Rob, my brother, you are multi-talented with all of those talents being on the high side of “superb.” These images, more than any others, capture the impact of Hurricane Sandy upon our hometown. Congratulations!
OC is one of Maryland’s gems. Long tradition of memories within families. Every time it is struck, it hurts all of us in many ways. Thanks for the photos.
