I have been incredibly busy these past few months shooting engagements, weddings, and planning my own wedding (more on this later), not that I’m complaining! There will be a ton of new and amazing work posted on the blog so be sure to check back soon.
Laura and Mike’s engagement session was one I had been looking forward to for months. Soon after Laura booked me, she mentioned she, her fiancé Mike and their family would be vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware this summer and were hoping to do a nautical themed engagement session while in town. Several days leading up to the shoot, the weather on the Eastern Shore had been less than predictable. It was like someone turned on the water hose and forgot to turn it off, everything was soaked. Even the morning leading up to their session the rain poured down. Sure enough that evening the skies gave us some relief and we were able to shoot.
When picking the nautical themed location, I immediately thought of the wedding I shot last season for Jennifer and Scott at Cape Henlopen State Park. Boats in the Delaware Bay and a beautiful sunset from this location always make for a beautiful backdrop for photos. After getting lost twice trying to find our way to the perfect spot, we finally arrived. It wasn’t long before Laura surprised me with all of these amazing props she had been collecting. Even her dress had seahorses on it. We spent some time walking on the beach, talking about everything, not forgetting to mention all of the details for their upcoming wedding at Salero in Rehoboth Beach. After deciding it was time to get off the beach, we headed to downtown Lewes where we stumbled upon the most amazing lightship and ton’s of nautical props in a park along the downtown waterfront. Don’t worry I didn’t know what a lightship was either until I went to the website. All in all we had a blast shooting this nautical engagement session and are very much looking forward to their upcoming Eastern Shore wedding.
