It was a cold December afternoon at the Hotel DuPont in the heart of downtown Wilmington, Delaware where Sarah and Joe were planning to celebrate their wedding with 120 of their closest friends and family. After Sarah and Joe got ready with their respective bridal parties, they wanted to have a “First Look” where they could share a few moments together before the ceremony. While they didn’t actually “see” each other, they did hold hands around a wall, shared a few thoughts, and settled those nervous wedding jitters before the ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in my photography team when just moments before walking into the ceremony space, Joe took a moment to remember his father who had recently passed and a remembrance area was displayed.
To the sound of a pianist playing “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, Sarah’s brother Patrick had the distinct honor to escort her up the ornate marble staircase and into the romantic du Barry Room of the 1913 hotel. The Hotel DuPont’s du Barry Room is a breathtaking Federal-style room appointed with white pillars, parquet floors, elegant sconces and a magnificent crystal chandelier imported from Yugoslavia. It was the perfect setting for their wedding! Following the ceremony, we spent a few moments capturing family and bridal party photos inside while guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the ballroom foyer. Guests then cheered as Sarah and Joe made their grand entrance into the Gold Ballroom and onto the dance floor to share their first dance to “All of Me” by John Legend.
Sarah and Joe, thank you for allowing us to document your most special day. We wish you many years of happiness and hope you enjoy your honeymoon in New Hampshire.
